Bin Inn had lots of things - xanthan gum, lentils and seeds of all sorts, nutritional yeast etc.
I got my Stevia from mynaturalhealth.co.nz Nunaturals Pure Liquid Alcohol Free Stevia 59ml $29 inc shipping
Glucomannan Powder from healthia.co.nz 227g $37 free shipping
Whey Protein Powder - Dymatize Elite 5lb (about 2.5kg) $96.95 free shipping - not sure if I'd get this one again - tastes great but has a small amount of artificial sweetener in it (carbs 2.5g/serve). It's also from the States which I didn't realise, so probably not from grass fed cows.

Hi there, I purchased my first bottle of nunaturals white extract powder from ie produce in Takapuna, Auckland. It was $22.50 for 28 grams and lasted 4 months, with 6 kids and the odd bit of sugar. I found the supplier to see if they could get the bigger bottle and they were local and ordered the 454 gm bottle for $120. Works out much cheaper per gram and should last for an age.
I have an account with Ceres which was free to set up and I can order most seeds, including golden flaxseed from there. Good prices even for organic. Bulk packs come in3 kg bags so works for a largish family.
I ordered xylitol in bulk from xylihealth.co.nz and mix it with the stevia to make a homemade type trivia found on the healthyindulgences.com website. Yummy in the fat stripping frappe. Couldn't find bulk erythritol here.
I'm still doing bits and pieces of the plan so not totally intrenched in it yet. Due to have baby #7 4 days ago so have some other things to think about. I love new food ideas and recipes though so am looking forward to getting underway a bit more once bubs arrives.

We have a Ceres account too :-). Chantal Organics also have personal accounts but from what I hear they don't always have good stock levels, but they do have a cheaper minimum per month. I still order my Now Glucomannan powder from iherb.com it usually costs about $25.00 NZD including shipping, and I recently ordered the NuNaturals 454g which came to about $75.00 NZD, they have great international postage rates. I posted a code in the other Bargain Corner thread which allows first time customers $5 or $10 off their first order depending how much they spend. Raw milk- in NZ you are allowed to purchase up to 5 litres of raw milk from a farmer if it is for personal consumption. Some farmers don't know this but I could post a link to the actual law on it if someone is interested. For people in Tauranga Cambrian Meats sells it through their store. Xylitol or Erythritol - www.annies.co.nz Annies xylitol is sold through some health food stores it is made from non-gmo corn (we asked). They also sell erythritol as well. 1kg of erthryitol is $25.55. I'm not sure what the postage is, but if a health food store sells Annie's xylitol they might be able to order in the erythritol too. I haven't done much research on Whey protein as yet, but there are some pure versions sold on Trade Me. :-) Donna

Sounds great about the prices from iherb. Will definitely give them a try. Always just naturally think it will be way more expensive from overseas.
Also wondered what it looks like to customs getting bottles of pills and powders sent here. Do you know if there is any regulations for ordering vitamins or food stuff?
I paid $120 for my 454gm bottle of nunaturals, which should last ages, but still $75 plus postage may work out cheaper.

When you ladies use the stevia powder, how much do you use? I've got liquid stevia and I think it'll last for ages, but would be interested in getting powder next time I need it if it works out cheaper.

I bought the small bottle of powdered stevia first to see how it would go. It lasted 4 months and you only need such a small amount. Have just bought the larger bottle. I have enjoyed mixing it with the xylitol to get the bulk in some recipes and the two sweetners sort of complement each other. Xylitol has a cooling effect in your mouth which I reckon is curbed by the stevia mixed in and the stevia has a very slight after taste which is curbed by the xylitol, so depending on which recipes I'm using it in I'll use just straight stevia or a mix of both. Stevia definitely cheaper than using the xylitol but nice to sometimes have the option.
Make sure you put your stevia in a metal salt shaker or similar though as I just put some in a ceramic one and it has absorbed moisture from somewhere and clumped so won't shake out. Lucky it was a small one and didn't waste too much.

On I-herb's site they have a list of things that are prohibited in NZ and they won't even let you order them. Fortunately Glucomannan and stevia aren't on it Also on their packaging label they don't itemise the goods they simply state 'Natural Products for personal use'. I have had 3 orders from them so far with no trouble, the last one I paid slightly more for the dhl delivery and the order arrived in 4 days! It was only $4 USD more than the airmail cost. The link below talks more about international shipping: www.iherb.com/info/internationalAnother quote from their website is: CURRENT CUSTOMER FEEDBACK (from November, 2012 Survey) • Customers have noted that if your order is under $300.00 NZD, you will not have any problems with customs. As far as regulations go, things like stevia and glucomannan are considered more supplements than food, and as far as I can see they are allowed to be imported. I-herb also has the following link to NZ customs website www.customs.govt.nz/Pages/default.aspx?s=3 if you want to do further research. Hope that helps :-) Donna

I have been reading THM and I am very happy that I have found some like minded Mamas to get some info from. The only thing I have to say is that I got some Whey Protein from www.lifefoods.co.nzWhey Protein $34 for 1kg Super Food Smoothie $17.49 250gms (chocolate) not sure how pure they are. Thanks heaps to all you Kiwi Mamas out there for your time sharing your knowledge of what you have found in New Zealand to help with the plan. Up until today I was thinking that I don't have the time to resource products found in NZ. But now I have some hope. (My headache is moving.) God Bless you all and your families!!!!

Hi kgibberd - welcome! I'm not sure how many of us NZers come to this page, but I usually check this thread once a day or so, and another one 'Where to get things in NZ' so feel free to ask questions! I've only been doing THM for 3 1/2 weeks, so I may not know the answers, but it helps to have someone to ask!! If you're on Facebook, the members group is fantastic.

Hi Karen. If you're on facebook, search for trim healthy mama. It's a great support. Apart from that, this is the only one I know! There is the official THM page, with a photo of Serene and Pearl on it. Just under the picture of the book is a line that says, Questions? Check out... If you click on that you get to the THM group which is fantastically helpful.

I have found glucomannan noodles (called shiratake noodles, made from konjac) here: www.oceanfitnutrition.co.nz/shop/low-carb-shirataki-noodles/ I am trying various Asian grocers but have yet to find them anywhere else. You can also buy Whey Protein Isolate for $48/kg (plus $5 courier), which is the cheapest I can find so far. I have been pricing up Glucomannan powder, but as above, the cheapest in NZ seems to be $37 for 227gms (gasp!). I had a look today and you can buy them from www.konjacfoods.com/order/index.htm (which is recommended in the THM book), they will ship internationally...the best price would be if you bought two 500gm packets ($19USD each) and $17 for international shipping. This makes $55USD or $65.62NZD (at today's exchange rate), which makes it much cheaper per kilo (compare that to over $150 for a kilos worth of the 227gm bottles!). I'll be saving up for that one!
