Good morning everyone! I have bad reactions with whey, but enjoy having protein shakes with whey-free hemp protein powders. We have two different kinds in the house, but neither are strictly THM approved I don't think, and budgetary restraints won't allow me to get another. SO. If someone had to choose between a hemp protein shake that organic palm sugar (which I realise is plain ol' sugar lol), and one that has pea and brown rice protein and lo han gua extract ( what the...? lol) but sweetened with stevia ...which one would be the lesser of all evils? Again, I'm not asking for permission, or encouraging anyone else, to go off-plan, but with money extremely tight I need to be careful with expenses. Many thanks for any advice.

I can totally understand budget being tight. It's too bad you can't tolerate the whey protein. I would not be comfortable using a protein powder with sugar, and it would be off plan. The other with stevia, etc. while better, would only be used in an E setting. I do not know if that particular one is on plan, but there are some alternatives that are for people with allergies. Jay Robb's has an egg white protein. Also, cottage cheese is great in shakes. It tastes great and is high in protein. Unflavored gelatin is also high in protein and some use it in their shakes.

Thank you, I appreciate the advice! Yes, I thought it probably was E, with fat being 0g and carbs 8g (fibre 5g / sugar 3g). I'm not much of a cottage cheese gal, but will try a gelatin option sometime and see if I like it. A great tip. This makes it easy for an E breakfast, I appreciate the help.

Can you post what you have? The second one might not be too bad to use up until you can get a more on plan version

I was wondering about the cottage cheese addition... Does that just give it more "oomph"? Does it add texture?

In a smoothie amyp? In those think it adds a bit of creaminess and it adds some protein
