So I've been looking into the idea of getting a hormone panel done. I'm exclusively breastfeeding my 5 month old son (although I plan to start offering some solids to him soon). My cycle hasn't come back yet and I've never charted before. I'm not sure when I should do it, because the book says to test during a certain range of days based on your cycle and I have no idea where I'm at! I lightly spotted for a few days at around 3 months postpartum which is unusual for me. This is my third baby, and after the other two my cycle returned around 6 months, but was pretty irregular, ranging from 35 to 40ish days. Before kids I was always 29 days exactly. Should I start charting before testing? Also, wondering if breastfeeding affects the results? I feel so much better and have lost 20+ pounds eating on plan, but I still feel not quite right and wondering if hormones are part of the problem.
My biggest issue right now is that I am having a horrible time trying to go to sleep at night. I think its restless leg syndrome (I twitch and jerk as soon as my body tries to relax). I've had a mild version of it before when pregnant, but this is getting ridiculous! I need to sleep! I started taking a magnesium citrate pill twice a day, and its helped a little, but I need to figure something out soon!
Also, I was wondering if anyone has ever dealt with symphysis pubis dysfunction? This is basically when the hormone relaxin (which is supposed to relax your pelvic joint for birth) gets released way too early and causes a lot of pelvic pain during pregnancy. Its gotten worse for me each time. Its better now, but my pelvis still grinds a little first thing in the morning and I feel really weak down there. My chiropractor said it takes a year for the hormone to work its way out of your body and that my back to back pregnancies just kind of piled it on. Everyone I talk to says, "Oh, thats just part of pregnancy, sorry!" but I'm not satisfied with that answer. There has to be a way to make that hormone stay in its place till the proper time!
Anyway, sorry this is kind of long, but I'm having trouble finding solutions to these problems elsewhere. And I'm sure I'm not alone in this.
