My dad is about halfway onboard with the THM plan....problem is, he's the biggest diet soda drinker I've ever met. And he's incredibly stubborn and strong-willed. (Winning combo, huh?) Last night we ran to the store for some things, and he reached for some soda. I told him he probably shouldn't, it was basically liquid carbs. He showed me the nutritional facts, and no carbs were listed. I replied that it was still bad for anyone to drink it. "Maybe so," he said, then bought five twelve-packs of diet Pepsi. (Ok, that story was not *totally* necessary, but I thought it proved my point and was also kinda funny.) I've flipped around on Pinterest for info on why you shouldn't drink diet soda, how to break the habit, and some THM soda-y alternatives...but I'm worried that he'll ignore it all unless I give him a reasonable sub for Coke or Pepsi. So I guess my question is....are there any recipes out there for THM-ified coke? Any other tips would be appreciated.

Zevia makes a cola flavor. I haven't tried it because I usually find other Coke/Pepsi flavors woefully lacking compared to the real thing, but your dad may like it. Maybe put some in an old Diet Pepsi bottle and see if he picks up on it? If he likes other flavored sodas, I've found Zevia's cream soda, ginger root beer and black cherry flavors are great when a craving for sweet bubbly fluid hits.

Are they an S or E?

Zevia should be a FP. They are sweetened with stevia. Another alternative might be Virgil's Zero. My hubby is a long-time soda drinker. Nowadays, however, he drinks Zevia and Virgil's Zero. Word of warning: if your dad isn't on board with this idea, it likely won't work. Gentle persuasion sounds like your best bet here! Best wishes!!!

I agree if he doesn't want to change it will be hard, I do enjoy Zevia (all the ones I have tried) but I hadn't drank soda in years. If he drinks very much he will likely have some withdrawal too so it might be an uphill battle.
Does he like iced tea, or lemonade, or something totally different like that? Sometimes it can be easier to switch to something not the same at all rather than trying to sub for something. Maybe if he can have things that are different more often it will help to get him drinking less?

I never drank pop. But, I loved ice tea. I drink Steaz. Mango flavour is the best!
