I was introduced by a parent at my grandson's pony league. She has lost a lot of weight and is on this forum. I am still reading the book, but it is very exciting so far. I have tried lots of things in the past 4 years or so. I did not gain until in my 60s. Now it has been so hard to eat right and maintain any loss. It is an overwhelming book but I am going through it and then rereading the chapter to get it in my head. I appreciate the amount of research put into this by regular people wanting the best for themselves and their family.

So many blessings have come to our family from implementing the concepts but forth in the book. Many many thanks to Pearl and Serene for all your efforts!

I'm new to this way of eating. I've read the book and started only a week ago. I have already lost 3 pounds, Praise God for the two of you!

Never done a forum before so please forgive my lack of knowledge on how to do this or where to ask a question. Senior female in south Florida whose daughter mentioned THM. Intrigued and bought the book...first trip to Whole Foods today. How do I find out if black eyed peas are acceptable legumes? Are they S or E? Am trying some recipes, trying to eat up what we have in the house that is not ok before we start (husband is upset at wasting food!) Nervous about this. How do you travel...have company over...etc. and stay on THM?

How do you travel...have company over...etc. and stay on THM? Welcome to the forum! Black eyed peas are E, and they will have the same portion guidelines as other beans and legumes that are outlined in the book. There is some good advice in the book about traveling and company and restaurants, etc. And you can post questions here on the forum or on the facebook group page for advice from other ladies. Don't hesitate to ask questions! There is a general discussion board, a board to post recipes, a board to ask questions about specific foods or recipes, and more!

Hi. I've requested THM book from our library... It's very popular and I will have to wait for a available copy. In the meantime I hope to borrow one from one of my friends... They are ALL a rave about it! I also hope to glean information from this blog/forum. Where shall I start? BTW, is Dave's Killer Bread a good product? Thanks for being here!

I hope you get the book soon! In the mean time, you can start out by reading Serene and Pearl's posts in their Tips board, and if you are on facebook you can check out the fan page. As far as store bought breads go, Dave's is not too bad, but when you get the book, you'll be able to find out much more about how to make breads a part of the plan.

I have read the book up to chapter 17. I have been slowly buying some of the items. My question is that I am allergic to coconut and am wondering what I can use to replace coconut flour and coconut oil in the recipes that call for that.

You can replace the coconut oil with butter, ghee, or red palm oil for cooking and baking. And for coconut flour - that depends on the recipe. You can experiment with almond flour or flax meal, but that won't work in every recipe. You may have to stick with the recipes that don't have coconut flour.

I bought the book this past week & couldn't put it down! I'm a para professional at a high school & currently in a biology class. We covered the chemistry of life unit last week & it was all about fats, carbs, protein, & sugars. It was really cool to see you include the science behind it & it reinforced what was taught in class. I just went grocery shopping & planned my meals for a few days, which I'll start Monday. I'm so excited! Thanks so much , Pearl & Serene! This Mama's ready!

Just bought the book but have questions, gained a lot of weight from health problems. Have weak core and totally messed up my metabolism, not sure where to start The best place to start is by reading the book to get to know the plan. Then you can start incorporating the basic S and E plan. Baby steps help. Start with one meal per day to be "on plan," and work your way from there. Remember you can post questions on this forum too.

Hello,
I just finished your book and enjoyed it very much. I'm 52 and battling squamous cell carcinoma for nearly three years now. My daughter discovered Trim Healthy Mama last summer and introduced me to it by making me delicious drinks that made me feel so good. I was especially impressed by the Singing Canary with the turmeric and high dose vitamin C for boosting my immune system. I bought the book for the drinks and the dietary guidelines fit my no sugar and low blood sugar lifestyle. I am not someone who enjoys cooking or being busy in the kitchen but as I read the recipes, I thought that maybe even I could do them. I was disappointed not to find more drink recipes in the book. When I asked my daughter about this she said to look under the pictures section of the facebook page. I would love it if you could somehow put all those wonderful drink recipes in a single location that is easy to find.
Thank you for sharing all the combined wisdom you have gleaned with us. I have already bought four more copies for gifts to friends, plus told two other friends. One ordered two copies within a half hour of trying the Skinny Chocolate and the other said she is going to get herself a copy.
