Hi all! I'm hoping we can get some good discussion going here regarding tips, etc for husbands that are eating on plan! My husband has expressed that he plans/wants to start eating this way, though he has not yet. I do not plan to pressure him in any way! I think he gets encouraged when he hears different successes that I share with him. He used to be able to eat anything he wanted and not gain weight. That has changed over the last few years and he has some weight to lose to be healthy and feel better. I expect he will probably be more ready after Christmas and perhaps New Years. I would like to be getting ideas NOW for when he is ready to get started.... Like foods to send with him to work, etc! And good 'snack ideas' that I can try to keep available - I don't see him getting excited about my glucomannan puddings . Do any of you have husbands eating on plan that particularly like certain foods?

My husband doesn't eat exclusively on plan yet but he isn't going to be much help on this subject anyway. He has been eating "healthy" (of course different from THM) for a while know so it isn't too much different as far as what he eats goes. I sent him tuna salad (made with greek yogurt and spices), some type of fruit like an apple, string cheese, soups, leftovers from dinner, wasa crackers and laughing cow cheese, cottage cheese and berries, oikos fruit yogurt, turkey jerky, protein bars etc for his lunch and snacks and he is fine with these. He has gotten off his eat well kick so he snacks on whatever is available at work and at home between and after meals but would probably be fine with whatever I had ready for me. I wil probably do the fudge and chocolate more when he is interested in going all on with the plan and may try some of the other protein snack bar type things in the book too. But he will snack on nuts and cheese and peanut butter too so those are easy as well. Sorry I am not much help with this topic regarding husbands. But I would like to know about workouts for husbands which may just be a serene question. He is coming from P90x and Insanity and wants to keep building muscles but of course loves the idea of not working out for an hour to an hour and a half each day! Any suggestions on building muscle in men without working out for so long? Thanks Amanda for starting this thread!

Nuts! My husband loves them as snacks. He loves cheesy omelet breakfasts. He loves burgers for supper with any salad or buttered non starchy veggies. Any sort of "man food" keeps him happy.
E's are a bit harder for him but he does enjoy the Trim Healthy pan bread made into sandwiches. Joseph Pita sandwiches are great to send as S lunches for him aswell as Oopsie rolls.
For dessert he loves Chunky Cream Pops, ricotta Creme too, but his favorite is Tummy Tucking Ice cream. That makes me so happy because that is a Fuel Pull! He also lives the Chocolate Nut Slab. He quite enjoys the puddings flavored with Peanut flour.

My hubs is a true ectomorph, and has to eat at least 4,000 calories a day in order to not drop weight. However he does eat and love all of he recipes in the book, they are very man friendly to bonkayb my husband lifts heavy weights twice a week. It takes about half an hour for a good chest, bicep, tricep, shoulder, back, and leg workout.

My DH (=Dear Husband) has been eating low GI for a while and is really happy that I'm embracing the same with THM. So he's doing well - lots of nuts and eggs, plenty of vegetables, and meat of all kinds. He's not a big bread, potato, pasta, or rice lover (except for rice noodles) but he loves fruit too so E meals for him are usually lean meat with salad/veggies and then some fruit for dessert, or hearty soups with beans.
If he has a microwave at work, soups or anything left from dinner would be good. If not, would he eat lettuce wraps with meat and veggies in romaine leaves? boiled eggs, cut up veggies (with yummy dressing if he likes it), and nuts for snacks are easy and can be eaten on the run. crabby patties are pretty good cold too.

dh has enjoyed a lc lifestyle before, and dropped 30 lbs. We both went off it for different reasons, but are now enjoying THM. (well, except that we've fallen off the wagon for the last week, but the wagon train hasn't left us, so we'll climb back aboard) He enjoys salads for lunch. He's also developing an addiction to cookie bowl oatmeal... yum!!!!

Hi Amanda (who happens to be my daughter!). I'm thinking your dad will get more on board after New Years-at least I hope so. Hopefully he and your hubby can encourage one another. He has been so happy that I've been cooking so much and we're not eating out nearly as often. He has loved every recipe I have cooked from the book. Of course the crockpot chicken with homemade Alfredo sauce has been a favorite. We love the muffin in a mug at night. I quit buying bread weeks ago and only keep Josephs pita and lavash bread around. I've been spreading different laughing cow cheeses on half a lavash bread and rolling up meat and lettuce with it. His coworkers laugh at his crazy looking lunches but he likes them. He loves to snack on nuts and cheese sticks and anything with peanut butter. Now if I can just find a way to get him to stay away from chips!

Well my hubby decided it go "on plan" completely starting tomorrow so I may have to be searching for more help in this department. His issue will be wanting things to be made and ready for him where as I don't mind throwing something together for a snack or lunch. We will see how it goes. Also he eats so much more than I do. While it takes me 2 or 3 days to eat through one recipe of choco pudding he will eat it all in one or two sittings I promise! That is going to be frustrating for me who makes it all! But so glad he is doing this as he is gaining weight back pretty quickly since having to take a break from P90x and Insanity due to health issues! Glad working out is not a necessity for losing weight on this plan!

Bonkayb, it's great that your husband wants to do the plan. My husband has a huge appetite and out eats me by miles especially when it comes to sweets. I have to take quite a bit of time out of my day preparing enough good food for him but it is so worth it! His health has improved so much and he has kept off more than forty pounds for a few years now. This will be such a worth while investment on your part helping your husband out and how fun to do it together.

Bonkayb, I make tons of pudding at once and split it in little half pint jars. My husband likes the pudding with spray whipped cream. But I do a number of days worth at once for my husband.

My dh started the plan with me when I started. So, just over 2 months ago. He's lost 15lbs. He cheats more than I do, tho.
I pack his lunches and breakfasts the night before (I don't do mornings). Thankfully my dh isn't picky. For breakfasts I usually make smoothies (he likes those best, because he has an hour and half drive to work and that is easiest to eat/drink) or I will fix greek yogurt with berries, or berries and a half a banana, or a chopped up apple with cinnamon. Sometimes he will heat up some TH pancakes if he has time. When he's off work, he loves eggs and turkey bacon or omelets.
For his lunch, he likes to have salads, or sandwiches on pan bread. His favorite are wraps though. I use big pieces of lettuce as the wrap and put in ham & turkey, cheese, spicy mustard, a couple shakes of hot sauce, and some chopped jalapenos. Sometimes, I will buy store bought low carb tortillas and make his wraps in that. I'm also going to buy a hot thermos and send soups with him. He loves the loaded Fotato Soup.
I will usually send him some "sides," too. I will give him veggies (not with a salad tho), or nuts and cheese, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, or a piece of cheesecake or brownie. My dh doesn't like the puddings, but he's never been a big pudding fan, but they work great in lunch boxes, too.

Yes I am finding my hubby doesn't like the puddings either which is sad as that is my goto dessert or snack when I need something sweet. He also currently likes things soooo much sweeter than I do but I am hoping that will change as he gets used to the Nustevia and gets the sugar cravings out. In all reality he will probably be doing the plan about 90% of the time instead of all the time like me. He just likes things he likes and I don't think he will give them up completely! We are only on day 2 with him but he currently still thinks the plan is restrictive of too many foods and he says it feels like a diet. But partly I think that is my fault since I have just been making him whatever I am eating instead of adding more to his since he consumes more calories than I do. So he feels hungry I am sure. Working on it!
