My 19 yr old son has been losing weight rapidly and steadily. He has lost 20 lbs so far, about 5 lb. a week. This seems too fast to me and makes me concerned. Is it okay? If not, what should we change or implement to slow it down? Thank you!

Your title says 15, but you mean 5, right? Does he have a lot to loose? I would guess being a young male, it's really reved up his metabolisim. As he nears goal, add in plenty of crossovers.

Oops, sorry, I corrected my title.
To clarify, he lost 10 lb. the first week, 5 lb. a week after that. He estimates he has about 65 more lb. to lose. Should I add in some crossovers now to slow it down closer to 1 lb. a week or just keep going for a few more weeks and see if it slows down on it's own? He is getting in snacks like grabbing a hunk of cheese if mealtime is still a ways off so that he's not just going hungry. I'm just worried it might not be good for him to be losing so much so quickly.

The more weight you have to lose, the faster it may come off in the beginning. I was approx. 200 lbs overweight when I started to lose and it came off quite quickly for me at first. I was losing around 5lbs a week for a few weeks, then it dropped to 4, then to between 1 and 3, and I'm a 43yr. old woman. I would think this would be ok for a teenage boy. At least for a little while.

Before crossovers, I would try S helpers, but even a crossover here and there will okay for him. He is getting lots of protein and since he is young, his skin won't sag. I think it will slow down naturally. Is he enjoying the food and feeling full after his meals?

Yes, he is thoroughly enjoying the food and eats to satisfaction. He says this way of eating really agrees with him, that being higher protein. We have used carbs as fillers and he much prefers protein! Thank you!

Okay then, let it happen. If he wants to add some S Helpers or crossovers in he can but he is young enough that fast loss will not catobalize his body like it can tend to do to people over 30.

My 12yo son has joined me on this plan as well, as he has about 20 or 30 lbs to lose. He really likes this way of eating, and I'm so proud of the way he has taken responsibility for his diet! He loves to cook too, and it has been fun for him to try new recipes.
Because he's young, I'm not weighing him, but I can see that he is starting to slim down, and his pants are loose.
Way to go boys!
