I was hoping someone could help me. I'd like to try muffin in a bowl, it calls for oat fiber. I found oat bran - is that the same thing? What IS oat fiber?

Oat fiber is more concentrated than oat bran. Since it is all fiber it has no carb value. It's also a lot smoother than oat bran. It's almost white, and has a very fine, powdery consistency. You can order a bag of it on www.netrition.com for just a few dollars.

Not that I'm aware of. But if you do happen to find it there, let me know!

:-) I was planning a nutrition order soon anyway! I tried a locale bulk food store, but they only had the bran. I'm glad I waited and asked. Thank ya!

i requested that azure carry oat fiber, if any you order from them (http://www.azurestandard.com). i thought if a bunch of th mama's requested items like oat fiber, peanut flour, konjac noodles etc that would help our access to them. in researching the oat fiber i found out that oat fiber is actually the hull of the oat ground. now it makes sense why it has the properties that it does and can easily absorb water excited to use it. Great idea family, I check there for all ingredients first anyway. I should suggest when they are not there Azure has great prices.

I'm in Australia & I found oat fibre in my local health food shop, but it was $22 for a small bag. I can't find it anywhere else locally. I saw it cheap at netrition, but it was going to cost $26 to post here. So the cost of this is really too much - I really wanted to try muffin in a bowl! I'm not sure if I could substitute anything else.

I'm not sure if I could substitute anything else. You could sub some whey protein powder. The texture is not quite the same, but I've done it before and it works. You could always use more cocoa powder and less whey also, to experiment with different texture, and possibly to cut down cost a little bit since whey protein is more expensive than cocoa powder.

Can you use Oat flour instead? I'm in NZ, and haven't seen any Oat fiber as yet.

Oat flour is more carb heavy and will not give the same results. Oat fiber is a very fine powder, and has a zero carb effect.

Hi. I hope you will post whether the whey powder works as I don't have oat fibre either. Thanks

I got some oat fiber. I have to say the muffin fills you up for hours but tastes a bit like cardboard!
