Yesterday when trying to think of good breakfasts since I have some food allergies for a little more variety - I remembered a drink from my childhood in Colombia. If. You went to someone's house they might offer you a drink of oatmeal - . Yes, a drink. Take cooked oatmeal - whip it in the blender with almond milk (or water but won't be as creamy - to your desired consistency - should be thick), add 1 tsp cinnamon (or to you liking) & sweetener - then if you need to run you can take this with you. You can cook up extra oatmeal (I Did) and keep it in the fridge so you can whip it and put in a thermos cup to go. I couldn't even drink all my allowable serving of oatmeal this way. Add protein powder if you can tolerate it! I'm sure it would improve it! This drink was called Avena - the word for oatmeal in Colombia.

I forgot to add that if you grind your OF oats into a flour before cooking you will get a finer consistency on your Avena.

They actually make instant versions of this in Colombia since it is such a popular beverage. When I grew up - convenience was only just beginning - we were years "behind" the US at that time. I made it with blueberries yesterday and finished it today.
