I copied all of this off of a facebook group file:
If you believe you have a low milk supply check out this article for more information:
kellymom.com/bf/got-milk/supply-worries/low-supply/ Nurse more! *Don't forget breastfeeding is a supply and demand system. Make sure baby is nursing frequently and has time to empty the breast. Baby should be able to tell your body to make more milk if he is allowed feed on cue.
These are only suggestions from others mama's. Not "professional" Doctor advice (although I'd say some of us are more professional in this area than some doctors... ; ) haha. Please, feel free to do your own research.Known boosters for milk are:
Coconut oil (skinny chocolate, skinny peanut butter)
Quinoa
Oats (oatmeal, overnight oatmeal)
Maca powder (mixed in smoothies)
Spirulina
Flax
Nutritional Yeast
Herbs and supplements:
Fenugreek
Milk thistle
Goat's Rue
Mothers Milk tea
More Milk Plus
Fennel and Basil essential oils
*Vange Johnson: Fennel, fennel, fennel - 2 tbs in a qt of water 2-3 times a day - drink it like you are drunk. but do the fennel - water, fennel, everything, then fennel again.
Lactation Cookies
1 cup coconut oil
1 and 1/2 cups truvia (you can sub xylitol or erythritol, or use less and add more stevia extract, but it might need at least some for the bulk)
2 large eggs
1/2 Tbsp vanilla
1 scoop Swanson vanilla whey (optional if you need it dairy free)
1/4 cup almond flour
1 and 1/2 cups flax meal - (1/2 cup golden, 1 cup regular)
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 cup cocoa
1/4 cup defatted peanut flour (or peanut butter, will add a few more carbs)
4 Tbsp nutritional yeast
3 cups oats (may want to start with 1/2c less )
mix: coconut oil, eggs, truvia, and vanilla
In separate bowl combine dry ingredients except oats
Add to wet mixture
Add in oats
Made 45 heaping teaspoon cookies
4 carbs each...
Bake at 325 for 8-10 minutes.
I did 10 minutes at 350 and they still looked a little wet when I pulled them out. But they dried out a little when cool. So a little less time and temp might help them stay at a better consistency.
I'm going to adjust and try a batch with only:
2 cups oats
1/8 cup cocoa
Which would make it 3 carbs each!
The milk making smoothie 1 c almond milk
1 scoop whey protein
1 handful oats
1 T flax
1 scoop brewer's yeast (nutritional yeast is good too!)
1-2 T coconut oil
1 heaping T cocoa
1 heaping T peanut butter
Stevia to taste
Pinch of salt
Dash of vanilla
Optional:
1 T chia seeds
1-2 t fennel seeds (will make taste a little weird)
Maca Powder
Ice
For those Pregnant and nursing here is some info :
I think fenugreek is one of the herbs to be careful taking when pregnant... this is safe to take when pregnant...
www.motherlove.com/product/320-More-Milk-Two-Alcohol-Free.html it would also be very easy to make into a tea if you buy the herbs in bulk
Here is a pinterest site with lots of lactation cookie variaitions... though not all THM approved it can give you a varitety of ideas to try:
