Hi! I'm new around here and have just begun my trip to becoming a Trim Healthy Mama. I cannot do the whey proteins because of a milk/lactose allergy. My hubby bought me the hemp protein, YAY!! My question is in the recipes (in the book) does subbing the hemp for the whey change the type of shake or recipe? Like from an S to an E, or vice versa? Thanks!

It is higher in both carbs and fats than whey protein, but will still work for either fuel type if you keep to a serving at a time. =)

I was just coming on to ask the same question. Azure has 5 pounds of Manitoba Harvest Hemp Pro 50 on sale for $39.50. Carbs would only be 1 gram (8 g less the 7g of fiber, correct?)

Yes, this is fine for any fuel type (S, E or FP). But watch what other fat you add with it when you use it as a FP or E, since this has 3.5 grams of fat on its own. You want to keep fat to about 6 grams or less with E and FP.

What does the hemp taste like? I was scared to buy 5 lbs of it in case I didn't like it. The woman at the Nutrition section in our grocery store said she tried it and it tastes awful and is gritty.

I would try it first, the hemp powder I tried in the past was gritty, it was from Azure, but I don't remember what type if there is more than one. I think it would be wise to test it, might be great for you

I saw that Costco sells a bag of hemp. I'm wondering if the protein powder would be just the hemp hearts ground up? I will definitely try it first

If you make a sort of protein powder purely out of ground hemp, it will be only S. The regular hemp protein powder will be processed differently.
