So I am in the process of reading the book (about 250 pages in) and have started to implement, to the best of my ability, the S and E plan, only for the last 5 or 6 days. I throw in a lot of S helpers, as I am pregnant (15 weeks), don't really need to loose weight (though I would like to tone up and maybe lose an extra 5 pounds after I have the baby) and nursing my youngest a couple times a day. Prior to beginning the plan, I cut out sugar from my diet (on my own accord) and cut way back on processed foods (before starting the S and E plan, my diet did include natural sugars from fruit - though no more than a 3 servings of fruit a day - and probably a tsp of raw honey a day.)
For the last 2 days, I have had a constant headache from dusk to dawn, even waking me up at night. It is quite severe actually, and really getting in the way of life. My first thought was that I was possibly having some sort of a detox; however, being that my diet was quite clean before beginning, I have my doubts that that's the case. I've been mostly eating plenty of animal protein, vegetables, coconut (in all forms), almond milk, some cream, some quinoa, some oats, berries, cheese, a bit of chia and flax and hemp, a small amount of cocoa, beans, lentils, and a bit of whey protein, and a small amount of nuts. The only thing drastically different in my life on this plan has been eating low-fat cheese or cottage cheese or non-fat greek yogurt when I have E meals and separating carbohydrates from fats at meal times. Before beginning, I only ate whole milk yogurt and full fat cheeses. Though, to be honest, my diet for almost 2 months (weeks 5 to 11 of pregnancy) included a ton of nut thins crackers and a very small amount of protein or fat. Almost every smell made nauseated and I couldn't stomach much beyond crackers, applesauce, and rice. There aren't any major stressors or anything going on in my life that I could think of that would possibly cause these headaches. Things are pretty good!
I really want to enjoy and get into this way of living and feel healthy and great, but these headaches are really bringing me down. Help? Suggestions?
