I haven't received my book yet, but wanted to start implementing the lifestyle. I had some questions on oatmeal and if it permissible for an "E" meal? If so, do I need a certain kind of oatmeal, (steel cut, old-fashioned, versus quick cooking)? Also, is there a certain way to prepare them in order to make them THM approved? Can I cook them on the stove top, or do they need to be soaked before cooking? Thanks so much!!

Oatmeal is a great E meal! Old fashioned or steel cut oats are best. You don't have to soak it, but it does make it easier to digest and it cooks up a lot faster. I soak 1/2 c. old-fashioned oats overnight in 1 c. water. In order to stick to the plan, eat it with no more than 1 t. of fat (butter, peanut butter, coconut oil, etc.) I LOVE the recipe in the book where you eat it with cottage berry whip!

Thanks so much! I'll try soaking mine next time. The steel cut oats definitely take longer to cook, but I do enjoy the taste and texture. I typically don't add any type of fat to my oatmeal, but recently I've been adding cinnamon and stevia and/or erythritol to give it a different twist. I'll have to try the cottage berry whip - that sounds really good.
