I have made hasbrowns with jicama in place of the potato. Where does jicama fall on the E/S/FP spectrum? I love it plain too , and in salads.

I believe jicama falls into the FP category. It can be used in S, E, or FP meals/snacks.

The hashbrowns were made with butter, sauteed the onions first and then thejicama lightly. That would make it an S side dish then! THanks for the response mama

I saw a recipe using it as a sub to make French fries that are then smothered in chili. It looks/sounds good but I was skeptical of how the jicama tastes. Since you say it's good I might give it a try

Even my picky MIL liked both of the jicama subsitution recipes
