Post by thesweetersong on 10 minutes ago Hi! Hey! I am rather tempted to buy Pearl and Serene's book. I just sent a text to my husband to ask if he'd pray over the decision (we are trying to be wise with our money and get out of debt, so every cent is costly to us at the moment!). But, of course, I'm skeptical. I have a gluten intolerance, and a something-else intolerance (I think it may be another grain, which I should really get tested for). At the moment, I'm doing a sugar free diet (no sugar - not even fruit for the first six weeks), and have been running 3-4 times a week for about half an hour. Throw in some high intensity interval training... And you've got a scale that just. won't. budge. In fact, this morning, I hopped on again, and I've gained! I'm actually heavier now than what I was when I started the diet. I know there could be numerous things, but ultimately, I've really not seen the scales budge much in these four weeks of doing the diet. (By the way, I'm not really eating a lot of tacky diet products - such as diet drinks, sugar free things). So, I'm stumped as to why I haven't lost anything. It could be muscle gain, but I mean, I've only lost half an inch around my waist. I was so hoping to fit into my black skirt for a very important interview this Thursday, but I can barely get the button to button up. Like countless others, I've tried most diets - including a low carb diet, a sugar free diet - and nothing works. I'm 5'3, and in my adult life, have never really been below 135lbs. I weigh 155.5lbs at the moment, so I do know I have some to lose. My husband and I are keen to start a family, and the only set back is my weight. I truly want to be as healthy as I can when and if we enter pregnancy. I don't know - I guess I'm just looking for encouragement. I think this post is written out of a frustrated heart. I keep asking myself, "Will this work for me?" And I can't answer that until I hop on the band wagon. I'm skeptical because, like many other diets, unless you have huge amounts to lose, the scales rarely budge. If you have any encouragement, you could relate before you started, I'd love to hear from you. Blessings in the Lord, Susie

I think it's good and healthy to be skeptical like you are doing...after all there are so many lies out there about diet and nutrition. I did the same thing. I didn't just want to jump on any bandwagon. But when I spent time reading all the success stories, and finding out that it really is a simple plan to get your body to burn fat and work in the way God intended it, I was convinced to try it. And I haven't been sorry. I am 45 and have been an avid exerciser for years, which allowed me to keep my weight reasonable. But after I had my last two children (I was 39 and 42) NOTHING I did would budge the scales. And this was including exercising daily, not to extremes, but being very active. I literally had just resigned myself to the fact that I would have to accept feeling yucky all the time. I started losing weight immediately, and have steadily lost weight...down 15 lbs in 16 weeks so far. I am not completely off grains, but I know that was contributing to my problems, so if you can't do grains, that is actually a plus! Being off sugar is HUGE! Good for you. That seemed like an impossibility to me. But now I don't have any more moods swings. I bought the eBook ($19.95) and just printed out the parts I wanted to. You will want to get the book because it explains the nuts and bolts (if your husband is okay with it) but why not do a trial run? Go to Pinterest and start trying it. The basics have been posted here: trimhealthymama.freeforums.net/thread/1992/meal-figure-outKey is to have 3 hours between types of Meals, but you can overlap an FP (Fuel Pull) with either and S (Satisfying) or E (Energizing) Be encouraged! There is hope.

There is hope. Thank you so much. I relate so well to "I literally had just resigned myself to the fact that I would have to accept feeling yucky all the time." Me to a T! I can't remember what it was to feel really healthy. Your reply was super encouraging. I have been so amazed by the before and after pictures shared on the Facebook page, it's almost too good to be true! Still praying about it, but as time does go by, the more hopeful I am about it all.

Have you had your thyroid tested? I had the same problems you describe when I did Atkins. I lost at first (water weight) and then completely stalled. My skin got dry, my stomach bloated, and I even gained a little weight. Atkins was hard on my thyroid and exacerbated the problem. I am a newbie, but I am not new to low carb. This way of eating has been much gentler on me than the Atkins program was and my thyroid issues are not as intense.

I was skeptical at first also, but was very interested in a more natural way of eating. I needed to lose weight, but my bigger desire was just to be healthy. My sister-in-law was following the plan and telling me about it. I knew not to mix carbs and fats and that was basically it. I finally bought the book and loved what I read. It makes so much sense. I understand the way God intends the body to work in such a clearer way now. In the first three weeks I lost 12 pounds. After that the weight seemed slower in coming off, but I was losing inches. This was all great, but the biggest thing to me was the change in how I feel! I'm more energetic, happier, my moods are more stable, and my skin and hair feel better.
This is not a fad diet at all. It's definitely a lifestyle change. I consider buying the book the best investment I've made. A bonus is that the THM way of eating can be followed on a budget as well. If money is tight for us we just eat the cheaper meals and make things go further.
I don't believe you would regret buying the book. It's well worth it.

I love THM for the way it makes me feel too. I'm much more stable, where as usually, I'm prone to mood swings. Even when not PG;) Lol.

It doesn't sound like you are getting any E meals. You should try to get in at least 3 of those a week and if you are eating the same thing everyday you could try switching it up a bit, adding some FP snacks & smoothies. The variety might help your metabolism get busy.

Some lose several pounds just in one week, and others don't see a single pound of lose for a month or two. It takes time. Give your body a chance to heal, to adjust to this new way of eating. Just follow the basic plan faithfully, and changes will be happening! If progress is still slow after a couple of months, then you can start to do some more tweaking to get things really kicked into gear and make your body respond more. You'll get there! Don't give up!
