My bathroom scale has helped me know that I have lost weight. But I don't accurately know how much I weigh. Today MY scale says, 163. Yesterday, the scale at my house cleaning client's home said, 174. It doesn't really matter. I'm still losing and my clothes are loser. But I WANT to know. Mamas, what kind of scale do you have? Is it accurate? How do you know it's accurate? Where did you get it? How much? Would you consider donating to THE SPLASH WIFE'S NEW SCALE FUND? Har har har LOL.

I know my scale is pretty accurate right now. Since I weighed myself with clothes on before a doctors visit and at the doctors visit it was about a lb heavier. I don't know what kind it is. It's just one I got at Walmart. Note if you weigh yourself on different types of flooring it changes how much you weight. I put my scale in the same spot on the floor every time. Another reason I do that is because at my moms house get bathroom floor isn't very level apparently. You can weigh yourself a couple inches over from the last spot and have a 3 lb- 8 lb difference. Totally weird.

My Sunbeam scale isn't too accurate either. I have to readjust it to 0 every day, even keeping it in the same exact spot (unless the kids are playing with it?). But that's what I get for $11!
I think as long as I'm consistently weighing on the same scale, I'm happy and I'm not willing to buy another one. The actual number isn't as important as how I feel.
It's just for a guideline for me. I never actually owned a scale before I started THM. My first day, I went to the store and weighed myself in the aisle so I could get a ballpark figure. After going to the store 2 weeks later and losing a few pounds I bought one.

If you have a Costco nearby usually in January they have a good deal on them, I don't know how you would know they are accurate though unless you compare like to the doctors.

Why my scale is not accurate: Today I noticed a big red mark on my 6yo son's forehead. I asked him what happened. He answered that he and his 3yo brother bumped heads when they "jumped on the scale to see if we weighed 100 pounds." I laughed so hard!

So glad you laughed about. My littlest are 6 and 3 and I could imagine them doing the same thing!

Lol! At 6 & 3 that would have to be a hard jump to bump the scale up to 100!

I probably wouldn't have laughed if I were in your situation though, so kudos to you! Back to the question of scales though, I purchased mine through Groupon & it measures water weight, body fat % and pounds (you calibrate it to your height, age, and sex & it has metal where you step on it that somehow figures it all out when you step on it with bare feet). I think it is accurate because I went to Curves for a free body fat test (they also had me hold on to something with my hands that was metal so I guess it was the same idea as the feet) and it was in the same percentage as mine at home. I agree with whoever posted previously about different flooring having effect on the scale also... What a great idea again from a previous comment about weighing before the doctor appt, with clothes on to compare to the doctor scale! At least to see how your scale compares to theirs...! I prefer whichever scale read the least though (and the other ones are wrong! haha)

Splash, I think my scale only cost like $15 or $18 dollars - but I looked online for similar ones and they were in the $50-$70+ range so I decided to go for it and I'm really happy with my purchase! I forgot to look at what the brand was when I was home but in general I think they are all similar so it shouldn't matter...just research whatever brand you decide on to see reviews from people who have purchased it, that's what I did before buying!
Hope that helps!

I saw in the Costco coupon book yesterday that they have a Weight Watchers digital scale $5 off....I don't know if they sell them online or only in the warehouse or even if they are any good....

Another client, another scale, it read 171... mine at home says 163. My scale is an OLD dail one and the vinyl surface is pealing up on all 4 corners.

Dear splashwife, please dont buy a scale, and dont give in to stepping on other peoples. Satans messing with ya. If you have lost five pound on yours, its five no matter what start and finish numbers are. Dont waste money. Its just numbers. Break the scale bondage before it starts!
