I was wondering if anyone had a reliable source for information about DIM and what a suggested dose would be? Not sure I have any doctors around to help me here. I would also like to check into bioidentical hormone replacement. Im 44. My cycles have been crazy, 22-25 day cycles, but ovulation is day 16-18. So, something is happening to the second half of my cycle. But, this month, after eating THM style for almonst a month and a half, I had a 29 day cycle! Is anyone else noticing cycle regulation? Or is this just a fluke?

My cycle has been getting better each month. I usually have terrible cramps, very heavy flow and both of those seem to be getting a little better each month. I wondered if it was a fluke too or if eating better was really helping this. Also my mood swings/irritability don't seem to be so severe.

You could private message Nancy who is Emily's Mother here. She knows a lot about DIM, what works, how much and can recommend a good brand.

I have been having short cycles for about a year and my first few weeks on THM I had a regular cycle. I hope that continues!

I bought a product called Estrobalance by Encymatic Therapy. It has calcuim and 120mg of DIM complex (25%). From what I read, that is the recommended abount of DIM. If things are really messed up they recommend 2 per day, 1 am 1 pm, until things regulate. Otherwise 1 in am should do the trick. I also got Source Naturals Progesterone Cream. I am hoping that with eating this way PLUS this other will really get me to there I have needed to be for years. I heard the DIM is good for guys, too. To regulate the estrogen and testosterone. So, I looked into it. They have the exact same product for guys called Pure Rip with DIM. Is that not hilarious! Exact same ingredients, but different lable. I guess they dont sell too many EstroBalance containers to the men. So, I am going to buy one, then refill with the other because the EstroBalance seems to be $5 cheaper. He will never know!

Well, 25 day cycle this month. I was hoping for a longer cycle again. Im wondering if it was doing the fuel cycle for 2 weeks?? Im kind of nervous becaue I am planning on doing the BAK (Bike Across Kansas, 500 mile 8 day bike ride) with my dad in June. I just counted the calendar and if I have 25 day cycles from here until the BAK, then all is well, as it will be day 8 of my cycle when I start the BAK so it will be over with. If I do have a couple longer cycles here and there until then, it may move all that up and I will be on my cycle. Not good!! If I would just go ahead and have 28-9 day cycles from here on out, then I should be safe then too. It is the short and long combo that will get me. I'll see what next months bring. I havent hardly had cramps and havent had my monthly migraine or breast tenderness this month, so that is good!

I have the opposite problem, my cycle is 40+ days and I always ovulate late as well. Anyway, this month I had lighter flow and no cramping but I still had a backache (not as bad) and still MAJOR grumpiness/mood swings. I finally made it through Pearls hormone chapters and had an ahah moment. Now to get some blood work done...

I have a friend with a 35+ day cycle and Im envious! Mine are 23-25 normally, so some months I have 2 in a month. Blah! But, I ovulate around 16-18?? Go figure. I started progesterone cream but I have used it before and it never lengthened my cycle. I have tried for 6 years to get pg, but nothing. Now that im going to be 45 next month I have given up on that idea, but I would still like to get my cycle together. I need to read the hormone chapter again.

Dear Pearl: this is from a PRE-MENOPAUSAL 30 year old female on low dose pill for endometriosis. Also enjoying the birth control aspect of it since we are perfectly content with our wonderful 2 little girls. After reading the the section in the book on hormones I want to get off of it but not sure how to go about it because of the endometriosis. I have now been on the pill for 8 years. Off it my lower belly feels crampy during intercourse for sure, but sometimes even when I sit. It feels like I'm sitting on my uterus! The pill has helped that tremendously. What can I do to get the help for endometriosis and figure out how to time my cycle to avoid pregnancy? Also I have no insurance and we are on a very tight budget. Thanks for your help. I LOVE the book (I read through 500 pgs in less than 2 weeks!)

I am 42 and have been told my hormone levels are in menopausal range. My Dr. does not want to write off for any hormone replacement unless I begin with symptoms such as hot flashes. I would love suggestions of where to even start. I have used dhea in the past, I know I need to add to dhea.
