I'm one of those people who are addicted to peanut butter, the natural, sugar free, low sodium kind. Like, sit down with the container and spoon kind I know that it's still on plan, but you shouldn't go crazy with it. So I made the peanut butter junkie spread so I could still eat my "peanut butter". Well, I meant to get some tonight and noticed that it tasted very acidic to me and had a slight watery clear looking something on top. Does this mean it's gone bad? Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening again? I still have a half point jar of it and would hate to have to throw it out =(

Oh no! How sad. ? I don't know. It doesn't seem like it should go bad real quick if it was kept in the fridge. How old was it?

I know right?!! I really liked that stuff too =( It could be going on a month old here soon. I don't know the exact time I made it, but it's definitely been about 3 weeks at least

Hmm. I like to make big batches of things ahead, too. Maybe cut the recipe down to last you only two weeks, if it seems to go bad at three.

I will try that, thank you. Making ahead is nice, but not if you can't use it up right away lol

Or freeze part of it to keep it fresh

Good idea, thank you! =D I've just started making it fresh for whenever I need it now. I'll just take the flour, a pinch of salt and water it down. That way I don't have to worry about it =)

Hi, I know this is an older question, but just now saw it. For me, I need to use filtered water to make the Junkie peanut butter. We have well water, and it would go sour for me in a few days. Using water from a Brita-type pitcher with a filter has really helped. I use it for my home-made almond milk now too. If you don't have a filter, maybe using boiled & cooled water would help.
