I get excited when I read about the awesome benefits to be gained from the various THM " specialty food stars". Gelatin, collagen, sunflower lecithin, cocoa butter, MCT's, turmeric and others all do amazing things for the brain and body. But how much should the average person consume and how often in order for them to have their therapeutic impact? "Dosing" is never addressed. The books recommend them and they sound wonderful... but how do I know if I'm getting enough for it to even matter? Or am I overdoing it and wasting money? Can someone please give guidance on the stars I mention above? Thanks!!!

I think to get the collagen benefits you need 1-2 scoops a day. I try to treat gelatin as extra protein and don't take it therapeutically, but if you digest it well, thats an option.
The sisters say you can overdo it by adding more calories than needed. Especially if you are adding collagen or gelatin for extra protein. In this case more protein than you need is not better. I read a study where it was reported that you only use 20-25 grams of protein from a meal, and extra is stored as fat. Don't want that for sure!

Yikes! Didn't know too much protein could backfire into fat! Definitely going to avoid letting that happen! Thanks for the heads up.
Thank you too, queen, for quantifying collagen for me. Anyone else out there have input on the others?
