What are mixed field greens? Is it a mixture of different salads?
Also, what can I substitute for the tea? Would coconut water be ok?
thanks

I need advice with earth milk as well. Since I understand how important greens are but am not a salad fan, I've been mixing up Dr. Oz's green drinks ( tweaked a little by adding spiralina, cultured salsa and a T. Of plain gelatin and usually subbing other greens for the spinach). I was very excited to try the earth milk as an alternative because I was getting tired of the same thing every day. I mixed up a batch of earth milk this morning (fuel pull style) and drank about half (some before my S breakfast, some after-- goes down so easily!) and began to experience coffee jitters like crazy! I was working on making my menu for the week an could barely write. I finally went for a good hike in the snowy woods to burn off some of the nervous energy. I can't figure out what did it. I'm not a coffee drinker but didnt think there was enough caffeine in the tea to do that. Besides, I used the same kind of green tea I make iced tea with and have never had the jitters from it. Anyone have any ideas?

The greens you want to use for Earth Milk are the soft ones. Nothing hard or tough like cabbage, kale, chard, collard greens, etc. Those are best cooked. Spinach is OK - it's usually best cooked, but some raw is fine too. I buy a Spring Mix container from Costco that works well, or sometimes I use a mixture of lettuces. Herbs like cilantro and parsley are also fine to use. They're the cheapest, but also the strongest tasting. =)
To sub for the tea? Water would be best. Coconut water is not so good for weight issues, due to the liquid carbs it contains. Water or an herb tea would be great. Is there a reason you don't want the tea in it? It adds a lot of antioxidants as well as a mild yet pleasant flavor.
Valleyp - I've never been a huge salad fan either, although I'm trying to like them. =) I usually prefer to drink my greens. I LOVE this Earth Milk for that. Half the batch of Earth Milk is quite a bit. I usually make mine last about a week, drinking smaller sized glasses here and there. I don't really know if it's actually a problem to drink that much at one time, although I know that green juice is best drunk in very small quantities, because it is super strong. It is different than chewing that many greens. Much more broken down. It's possible that this has something to do with the jittery feeling. I doubt that it was caffeine from the tea.

Thank you so much Emilly for answering. I was hoping that the Spring Mix from Costco would work. I do not want the tea because of the caffine. I am pregnant and consume no caffine, except on occasion small pieces of dark chocolate. I tend to be pretty over the top when pregnant, especially the fist trimester. I've had several miscarriages and am high risk, so I tend to be extreem as I don't want to be thinking if I did something to cause it. Its all mental, I know. I am almost 15 wks, so I will drink certain kinds of herbal tea on occasion now. I am looking forward to switching my carrot & celery juice to Earth Milk, thanks again.

momof7: Could you do a decaf green tea? My understanding is that it isn't AS good as the caffeinated, but is still very good for you. Just a thought

I have some barley max powder, and I would like to use it up in an earth milk recipe, but don't know what a recommended amount might be to sub it into the earth milk recipe. Any suggestions?

Assuming it is just barley grass and has all on plan ingredients, I would just try some and taste...

You might loosely go based off of serving size on the barley powder, so if is normally one scoop for a 16 ounce glass maybe try a bit less than that? It will be a bit of guess and check

The earth milk looks so good! However, I feel like it has a lot of specialty items. I've invested in a few, but do I really need the Felton? Would a glucci substitute I purchased work just as well? And collagen?
