I made quinoa for the first time this morning and I'm not sure I did it right. It had a slight crunch to it. I thought it was ok but my hubby thought it tasted like plastic. I made it Serene's way and soaked.

Perhaps you needed to cook it a little longer. It is slightly chewy, kind of like brown rice, but it should not be crunchy. I would just say let it cook a little longer. If the liquid you used was already absorbed, then maybe you should also add some more liquid.

I have a couple questions about the warming quinoa porridge recipe. Can you sub the water for unsweetened almond milk and can I add any chopped apple or unsweetened applesauce to it. Apples and cinnamon are a great combination. Will the apple give it too much carb?
