I started the fuel cycle on Monday and today started the 2 fuel pull days. When I weighed my self tonite, I had gained a pound. How do you gain when you are eating limited calories?! Water weight? I think I`ve been following the plan just like it says, using the suggestions in the book for meal ideas, and not eating alot. So I got discouraged and ate cookie dough that I had to make for my sons class at school tomorrow... not good, I know. It`s just hard when the scale had been going down and now it went up. But I will be back on plan plus some tomorrow, I`m not going to let this stop me! Just discouraged right now!!

One thing to keep in mind is that you can't put too much value on a single scale reading. The number you get is effected by a lot of factors. A cup of water weighs half a pound, so what you'd drunk recently matters. Whether you've recently had a bowel movement or not can have an impact as that can make a difference of up to 1 lb. Not to mention water retention due to hormones or other causes, etc. How much you're wearing when you weigh can vary. Etc. Lots of factors.
Personally, I weigh myself in the morning, before eating, but after going to the bathroom, wearing just my underwear. This controls as many factors as possible. And still there can be quite the difference from day to day! Or even minute to minute. I've weighed myself, had my husband weigh himself, and then weighed myself again and gotten a number as different as 1 lb when nothing about myself has changed.
So, don't get too hung up on a single number, especially not enough to give up your eating/exercise plan. And even though I know this, I certainly get discouraged by "bad" weigh-ins. {hug}

Thank you! I knew this all in the back of my mind, but I was hungry at the time and just thought, this isn`t working, and I might as well have some cookie dough! So now I`m beating myself up over eating as much as I did, when I know that most likely if I would have stuck it out and had a dessert suitable for fuel pull days, then the scale probably would have been lower this morning. So now I`m just trying to get my mindset back! I know the weight will come off if I follow the plan, and that it`s not a race, but I just get impatient

I'm with Heather - lots of variables to "weigh"! Could have just been an off time.
The scale is such a trap for so many people, myself absolutely included. And really, there is little as devastating as getting on the scale and expecting a loss, only to find a gain. When I get discouraged like that (while I admittedly have eaten my share of cookie dough as a result), I try and find the other positives about eating healthy. I feel better, I know my insides are healthier, I'm not so tired, etc. There's more to healthy eating than the number, so maybe try and focus on some of the other things you gain from this way of eating during the tough times. lol And trust me, I know - easier said than done!

I have had so much struggle with this lately! In addition to the good advice of others above, I thought I'd chime in with a good tidbit my husband reminded me of recently. He told me to remember that while the scale may not be going down, I can still be getting smaller, as it's not about how MUCH YOU WEIGH, as it is about HOW MUCH YOU...DISPLACE. Make sense? Think of a dense 1 pound marble smaller than your hand, and a half a pound of... marshmallows thats...well bigger, even though it weighs less. Ha ha. SO not scientific, just trying to get it across that you can be smaller even while weighing 'more'. Keep up the good work!

Thanks so much for the encouragment! I hadn`t thought about getting smaller while weighing the same or more...that`s a good point tho! I`ve gotten a little off track lately, so I need to just get back on and stick to it and not worry about what the scales says, if I`m following the plan, SOMETHING is bound to happen ;D
