(I hope this is the best place for this question)
So I have never ate, nor been prompted to eat sushi. But one of the guys my dh's works for has invited a few of his guys out for a Christmas party on Saturday. Guess where we are going .. sushi restuarant. YIKES. I am only on day 2 of THM and I have no idea what I can eat there so I don't loose everything I started working for this week.
Can anyone make any suggestions? I eat salmon which I understand they make things with. But I really have no idea what I would order. Thoughts, comments would be very much appreciated.
(BTW - I am lucky enough to have a friend who is also a THM and we got our families (17 of us in all) together last night for a early new year party feed the kids their foods and we had a very good fish taco. So great to have another THM to eat with!!) Misty

Some sushi places offer brown rice, which is definitely your best choice. If you get a sushi roll w/ the brown rice, some lean meat (like salmon, or some places have chicken even, or another regular kind of white fish), and some veggies in it you'll have a good E meal.

sashimi (just the fish, no rice) is my favorite thing to order at a sushi restaurant, and that would be S. My favorites are salmon and tuna - YUM!
If you don't want to try the raw stuff, they should also have a lot of cooked items. Be careful of the teriyaki sauce, which has a lot of sugar. Look for meat entrees without sauces, or just order your meat grilled with no sauces.
If you want to go with an E, I agree that brown rice rolls are your best option if they have them. Depending on their menu, they may also have soba (buckwheat) noodles, which is probably what I would get - may not be plan-approved (?) but a much better choice than white rice.
If you have a link to their menu, we might see additional options for you.

The Lomi Lomi Salmon in the appetizers sounds great! There are several good option on Appetizers 1, actually - you could create a meal out of several of those.
For dinner, most of the teppenyaki (tabletop grill) entrees would be good if you skip the rice - you'll be able to see what's being done to your food that way at least. The clay pots on the dinner menu also look good, but several include noodles and/or rice that you'd probably want to avoid.
I think there are a lot of good options here if (a) you go with teppenyaki, (b) you go with sashimi, (c) you are willing to customize or build a meal from appetizers, or (d) you are willing to skip the noodles and rice, de-bread your tempura, and otherwise make it work for you.
Looks like a great place - ENJOY it and don't let staying on plan rob the pleasure of the meal (and by that, I don't mean to go all out and forget the plan - just don't get totally frustrated if you end up eating a few bites of rice or some other yummy item that is not exactly on plan)

Went to the Sushi restaurant and had a salad w/ oil and a piece of tuna steak that melted in my mouth(little oil and soy sauce). Thanks for all your help. Oh, and I tried a glass of Pinot white wine (switching as suggested from my sweet ones) and it was good.
