Hello, I am new to the trim and healthy book. I am really enjoying it and getting geared up to give it a full go . My question is this, in the book, you said not to bother with making your own almond milk because of calories,I believe. I am on a strict bubget with 9 in our family I have just purchased a 25 lb. Box of raw, natural almonds from a farmer in California, because I've read that they are much healthier as they are not sprayed with any harmful chemicals so, if I make almond milk with 4 cups water, 1/2 cup soaked almonds,a pinch of sea salt, and stevia, could it be plan approved? Thank you in advance for any input you could give me and Godbless!

Hi, this question is probably best moved to the General S and E quesion area. You'll get more response there. Lots of Mamas still seem to want to make their own almond milk and that is fine wth us. There is a thread about it here somewhere. Since I don't do it, they will be best to answer this question. I believe they use more water to make it Fuel Pull approved. One Mama mentioned 1 cup almonds to 2 quarts water. I think some are thickening with a tiny bit of glucomannan too. Always great to save money so your idea is a good one.

I did make the almond mil with 1 cup soaked almonds to 8 cups water. I added 1/2 tsp xantham gum. It worked great. I made then dehydrated the almond pulp in my oven and whizzed it a few times in the food processor and ur makes great flour for the bread in a mug, which is a huge God send to me. I have an autistic son that has been gluten and dairy free for years,so the bread is awesome for him and super quick to make when I'm in a pinch . Thanks!!

Don't worry about posts with mishaps mom2deeda, I do a lot of those. So glad your almond milk turned out and that the meal works for the bread in a mug so well.

Did you add the xantham gum before straining the almond milk or afterwards? Do you mind quickly sharing how you made it? :-) Do you have any ideas of how much this would be, calorie wise? Thank you!

I put it in with the water and almonds right before I blend it. It works great and its nice and creamy. I have no idea about the calories. I've tried to find that out myself. Please post if you find out any info.. I put 8 cups water to 1 cup water, and a pinch of sea salt. Isweeten with stevia and add vanilla after I strain it, and shake well to combine.God bless!!

Is the xanthan gum added during the blending? I assume you are using a Vitamix...how long do you have to let it run (on high?) And also, do you know how long this stays good in the fridge?

I add mine while blending. I use a ninja blender and blend for about 5 minutes. It stays good for about 5 days in the fridge
