Question. I am looking at whey on professionalwhey.com.au/product/nz-whey-protein-isolate( I am in australia trying to buy cfm whey.) And it says it is cfm and ultra filtered. Just wondering what this ultra filtering is and if it does something bad to the whey. Like taking out micro fractions or somethings like that. Or perhaps it is good? The usa whey on that site is cfm only. Appreciate whey expertise on this. Thanks. Or if anyone knows a good way to buy cfm whey from Aus? Thanks. I last bought Vital Strength 100% WPI+ whey protein isolate. It says it is micro/ultra filtered. I bought it from the Chemist Warehouse. 1kg for about $65.

Hi. Thanks. I bought whey from professional whey website above and it was around 33 a kilo. Less if you ordered more. The NZ whey was more.

What I have is MRM brand of whey. The ingredients are both concentrate and isolate. It upset my stomach so I had quit using it. I'm guessing it is a bad one.

What about soy? I found 2 that are only isolates, but they contain soy and I try to avoid that. Certainly wouldn't want soy in something I consume everyday.

It looks like Integrated Supplements flavored varieties are sweetened with Crystalline Fructose. Does that mean that only the unflavored is okay? Are there any good protein powders that are flavored (like Chocolate) that are less expensive than Jay Robb? I can't get the right flavor by adding cocoa to my Swanson's Premium unsweetened vanilla whey protein.

Try searching for the 100% whey isolate on Integrated Supplements. They have lots of flavors with only stevia to sweeten. You can also find several flavors of cfm whey isolate at the Protein Factory for a good price. All of these are cheaper than Jay Robb.

Ah yes, I see the flavors and sweetener choices on the CFM Whey Isolate at Protein Factory now (though I'm confused over the differences between the flavors: i.e. real strawberry vs. strawberry). Thanks! But the Integrated Supplements doesn't list that it is sweetened with stevia. www.integratedsupplements.com/intsup/intsup0011.WPIVICIt says that it uses a natural sweetener though. So it's okay?

Hmm.. I just noticed for the first time that is has Lo Han Fruit extract to help sweeten as well. This is OK, but it does bring the carb content up a bit. It's better to keep to the carbs down as low as possible. I don't think the integrated supplements is the best choice, but definitely not the worst either. It is still a good CFM whey isolate. But each scoop will have somewhere around 4 net carbs. It is still very low glycemic, and if you aren't having more than 1 scoop at a time, you'll be OK with this I think. I would recommend the Protein Factory, but it's up to you.

I'm a newbee... and *my* book has been borrowed back from it's owner. So I'm spending time in the trimhealthymama form to learn what I can! What is the shelf life/refrigerator life for protein powder?

Why protein powder will last in the pantry for several months - it has a very long shelf life.

This is interesting to me but I still am not sure if what I am using is good or not. I'm in Tasmania Australia and part of a buyers group. My sister and I bought 3 kg of whey for $20. My sister called and asked the wholesaler about the product and was told it is the whey from a local cheese factory. We know no more. The cow would be grass fed though. Would it be ok? I am lactose intolerant and have had no trouble after consuming it. I also have purist leanings so really want to know. Flowerpetal, I'm in Tasmania too. Can you share with me where you found your whey? Cheers!

As a beginner, I bought some whey protein powder at my local bulk food store so not sure if it's a good one but it's what I have for now. The question I have is when you call for a scoop in your recipes, how much is that approximately. Mine didn't come with a scoop. I guessed at maybe 1/4 cup or a bit less. Would that be about right?
