I did that in the Vitamix once, haven't again It was soo bitter and I love lemon and the Canary. I do leave a bit of peel on now when I have organic lemons, but two whole ones made it really hard to salvage, lol. Might vary lemon to lemon a bit as well.

With the ascorbic acid, is there any concern that it will affect the enamel on the teeth?
The internet didn't give me a clear response so I was wondering if anyone here could answer. Thanks!

I have a personal opinion that benefits to my body from this drink (which come from wonderful whole foods like lemon!) outweigh any worry I could have about my teeth. If you're caring for your teeth and eating a balanced diet, you shouldn't have too much to worry about. Your teeth should be fine from lemon juice. Sodas, sugary foods, etc are far more damaging to the teeth, extremely so. There is debate over the acid issue, of course, and some may disagree with my opinion. It will have to come down to personal comfort on this one. I'm afraid I don't have any hard facts to brig to the table. But I'm not worried about this issue.

Good point, definitely less acidic than the stuff I was eating Thanks. Also, maybe this is naive thinking but if you are concerned with the acid try drinking with a straw. I had a friend that drank even hot drinks with a straw (especially staining drinks like dark teas and coffee) per her dentists advice. I have actually had my hot coffee with a straw, its less weird than you would think!

To make the ascorbic acid more soluble, add baking soda. I wasn't sure how it would taste but, I tried it and it tastes fine! The following is from a Dr. Judd who writes about how to heal the teeth.
www.life-enthusiast.com/dental-health-letter-to-government-a-2260.html
12. As stated above, the gums can be reconnected to the teeth by taking vitamin C (ascorbic acid) (1 tsp) with Arm and Hammer baking soda (1/2 tsp) in 1 inch of water, letting it fizz and then diluting to 1/2 to 1 cup with water, then drinking. The resulting sodium ascorbate is nonacid, very pure and a thousand times more soluble than vitamin C. Sodium ascorbate is more reactive than ascorbic acid (vitamin C) in building connective tissue and antibody structures and more effective in killing some viruses and bacteria.

I love Singing Canary!! Maybe even better than Shrinker... The one tweak I made was, I used 2000 mg of Vitamin C instead of 4000 mg. It seemed too tart for my taste with 4000 mg. I used tablets ground up with a mortar and pestle.

It isn't in the book. The singing canary is a new drink Serene and Pearl have come out with since the book. The recipe is in the first post in this thread. Hope you enjoy!

There are two types of vitamin C ascorbic and ascorbate! Ascorbate crystals are the ones more easily digested for our human bodies!

Can this drink be consumed throughout the day even though it has the protein powder in it? I love it, and would like to be able to drink it through the day.

Yes, it can! I believe the protein powder not only adds to the flavor, but helps keep you not feeling hungry between meals
