Before starting THM, I ate tons of bananas...at least one every day, and sometimes more than that. Since I stopped eating them, I have been getting cramps in my legs and feet. I usually cramp like that during pregnancy and more bananas always help (I guess it's the potassium??). I'm off to do a search for other high potassium foods (besides watermelon!), but thought I'd check here for suggestions as well.

I experienced this when I first started THM, too. I have no idea why. It went away within a couple of months without my doing anything special.

Well if anyone else has anything to contribute to this, I would also appreciate it! I too have leg cramps almost every night - did not before beginning THM. Love THM so not giving it up, but would appreciate any insight. I did start taking a potassium supplement about a week ago. Still cramping though.

I would suggest magnesium as well and drinking lots of water.

I was already taking magnesium and potassium supplements before I started THM but the last few days I have been having terrible leg cramps.

I would look up "top 10 list of potassium rich foods". I randomly saw an article about it a few weeks ago and realized that there are many other foods that are actually higher in potassium than bananas! Some that I remember are tomatoes, cooked spinach, carrots, and many types of beans!

This is a late reply to the subject. Maybe it can still help someone. My midwife recommends lots of liquid calcium for leg cramps. It helps me a lot. Herbal calcium tea would also help.

Hello fellow crampers. Shouldn't be too silly because I realize this isn't funny. I actually had the reverse. I had cramps before thm and now don't. Unfortunately no actual idea why. But I have in my family loooong distance cyclists and they are very interested in cramps. The supposed cycling experts haven't quite solved it and theories float around about magnesium calcium sodium vitamin d caffeine and cocoa (cacao) and much more. Cyclists take a lot of electrolytes. Re vitamin d: there is a lot about vitamin d deficiency in the news here in Australia because so much sun safety and sunscreen etc. That people actually don't get enough sunshine now. There is no bit d supplementation here like in Canada and I don't know where else. I am not giving an answer but could suggest a google search re cramps and cycling incase you want to a lot more about it. Good luck and very interested to hear what helps if you find it.

I found that drinking TOO much water could exacerbate the leg and foot cramps that I had. I found that drinking healthy amounts of water, calcium and vitamin d rich foods, along with a magnesium supplement took care of the pain for me. I had to discontinue the potassium supplement to find the best blend for my body.

Leg cramps at night are the worst! I have found that drinking a cup of chicken broth takes them away right away!! I think it's the potassium in it. Yes I have made broth in the middle of the night and it was so worth it.

It also could be the sodium, I add a pinch of salt (Real Salt or sea salt) or so in lemonades and other drinks.
