Just tried this recipe for the first time. It puffed up so nicely in the oven but when I pulled them out, they all fell and looked really watery. Followed the recipe but used pumpkin spice instead of the vanilla. Any advice?

This happened to me as well. I have made many custards in my life and this is the first one without a water bath, so I'm thinking that was the problem. Are you familiar with that method?

There is another thread on here where a lot of people have had this problem. It's been a bit of a weird recipe for most people. Cooking it in a water bath may help. Otherwise, you may just have to skip this recipe. This is a very common problem.
