I just made my first Frappa! The book was right - it is almost miraculous! I dumped the whey in and watched as a watery, icy mixture turned into a lovely whipped drink! I'm very impressed. Also embarassed though, because this was my second attempt - I got my wooden spoon too close to the blades and chopped off a bit of my wooden spoon into the frappa . I don't think my blender is going to be able to handle icy drinks very well. I need a bit more liquid and less ice to make it swirl up.

My blender doesn't either. I was able to get a used food processor off of Craigslist for $15 ! And that works great. :-)

I always turn off the blender, then stick the wooden spoon in to mix it around. Then I blend again. Aren't these the best??? There are so many variations, too, such as a pumpkin frappe, or you can leave out the ice and have it warm and enjoy frappas all winter! Warm Chai Smoothie (S or FP, depending on how you make it)

Our old basic blender died doing ice. So be warned. Ice is tough in blenders.

I've ' killed' numerous blenders just with doing frozen banana smoothies, and using them a lot. I have never had anything but cheap blender, though, most often from the thrift store. If I ever get rich.... a good blender would be a good investment. :-) Till then I figure I just spend a little every year replacing cheap ones I burn up!

What brand of protein whey powder is the right kind, or can you use any storebrand? I saw some at walmart in the vitamin/weight loss section that was pretty inexpensive. Is there any small sample like containers of the whey or glucconamon so that I can try it and see if I like it?

Momnetta, they recommend Swanson brand whey protein powder but if you buy another kind just make sure to look at the carb count. I'm sure a moderator can post a more exact answer but I think they recommended no more than 1 carb per serving and not one that has a soy base!
I used the rest of my Muscle Milk brand protein powder when I first started because that's all I had and it had 3 carbs per serving. I figured it was better than others I had seen and I read on Facebook they said to just use up what you had so you didn't waste what I'd already spent money on...I haven't seen small containers in stores but you may be able to find smaller sizes online!

Swanson's Premium Vanilla is a great priced whey protein, there is a great post by Serene of what you want in tweaks and tips. I have heard there are no plan approved powders at Wal-Mart. The most important things you are looking for is an isolate and no artificial sweetners.
Swanson's has a small and a large container of the on plan version.
