I received my book a week ago and jumped right in. I planned to take the recommendation in the book for optimum weight loss and do 3 days on S and 3 days on E to give my body a good groove to burn one way and then flip my metabolism to burn the insulin.
Well, I did 3 days of S and loved it, then switched to an E day yesterday thinking this worked out great since I was sluggish from a very long day/evening on NYE. Not so... it was the LONGEST day ever. I was hungry it seemed every time I turned around! I had planned to do 3 E days, but I happily went back to S this morning with a 3 egg omelet! During the weight loss phase, is it okay to do mostly S days with an E day thrown in here and there for optimum fat burn?

I am on my first E day today after 2 days of S. I am hungry too. Would love some of the Skinny Chocolate in my freezer!

I love S meals and have a hard time with E too. I just find S easier, so I do mostly S breakfasts and lunches, and then throw in E dinners when possible. I'd like to try some E breakfasts though, like the cookie bowl oatmeal, so I want to change that up a little.

It seems easier to me to do S and E mixed up throughout the day. I have tried to do E only but it was too hard for me. Right now I am doing mostly S with an E snack or two.

After I eat an E meal, I am quite full and satisfied. It's just that a very short time later I am hungry and not just snack hungry either!

I think I will end my day with an S meal instead of completing an entire E day. Spaghetti sauce over zucchini for me, over dream field pasta for hubby and regular noodles for the kiddos. Craving some Skinny Chocolate for dessert!

You can freestyle between E and S meals however you like. You can do more S days if that's what you like, definitely. Just throw in some E meals whenever you feel sluggish or you think it's time for some healthy carbs. That's totally fine. I find it's easiest for me to mix S and E in the same day as well. And you only need to wait 2.5 - 3 hours. Don't worry, you don't have to hold off for 4 hours!
Have you tried any fuel pull desserts and snacks? They are great to tide you over if you can't wait the allotted time between switching fuel types. The "slick trick" puddings and frappa or big boy smoothies are great for that. There are a lot of other ideas in the book too.
Try adding in some fuel pull snacks between your meals that should help the switching a lot. If you still like the idea of having complete days dedicated to one fuel type, you can use fuel pull snacks on the E days so that you aren't hungry.

Emily answers so well that I hardly need to say more. E days are harder for some of us that like fat. Others enjoy E the most, can you believe it? I think if full E days are too hard then yes, absolutely have an S dinner at night. I find E's easiest for breakfast, either Trim Healthy Pancakes or quinoa with almond milk. I also like the pancakes for lunch sometimes or another E meal. But truthfully, I do more S meals than E. Make sure to throw some Fuel Pulls in there too. Fuel Pull smoothies are great to fill the belly more at the end of an E meal. They're freebies really.

Thank you Emily & Pearl. Great advice. Fuel Pulls sound like just what I need to get me through those days. What is the latest hour in the day you eat? I mean if you get hungry a couple of hours after dinner, do you do a fuel pull or an E/S snack depending on the day?

I usually do Fuel Pulls if it is real late, but that's not a big rule, sometimes I'll have a couple of pieces of cheese just because I feel like it. I hardly ever do E's late at night.

I sometimes eat right before bed, because I get hungry and won't sleep well with a growling stomach. I usually have a Fuel Pull dessert, because I've usually had plenty of calories during the day, and if I'm going to sleep soon I don't need extra fuel for my body to deal with. If I'm hungry a little earlier, say at least a couple of hours before bed time, I might have an E/S snack if I haven't eaten as much that day. Mostly I stick to Fuel Pull though after dinner.
