Hi everyone,
My dad suffers from polymyalgia. He asked me this morning if my 'way of eating' could help :-) I think it could, but wanted to ask you who have gone before me for any advice or tips you may have that would especially help him. :-)
Thanks in advance, Ruth

Sorry I am not at all familiar with polymyalgia, would you mind posting a little about his current diet restrictions?

I haven't heard of polymyalgia, either. I would feel that nourishing one's body with a healthy way of eating would be beneficial for anyone's general health....

From what I understand it is inflammatory based so being sugar-free should bring some relief to systemic inflammation. If he were really flexible and ready for a change you could also suggest gluten-free THM. I know of some people who are able to alleviate RA symptoms (for example) by being GF. Just food for thought if it helps!

Thank you for your answers :-)
He doesn't have any dietary restrictions at the moment. He is being treated with prednisone but he would love to not have to rely on it so much. Polymyalgia is similar to fibromyalgia, from what I understand, but he has swelling, so it is definitely inflammatory based.
Yes, sugar free would be a great start. I will ask him (and Mum, as it's she who does the cooking!) if he's willing to try gluten free.
I have compiled a list of non-inflammatory foods for him, and given him a couple of recipes (GGMS and the Shrinker for a start, so he can gain the benefits of ginger and cinnamon, which are good at fighting inflamation).
Thanks for your help - if anyone else has any wisdom for me, I'd appreciate it :-)
