Last year, I lost 50lbs doing Atkins, and I remember that on the Low Carb Friends forums we were always told to make sure that fat took up at least 60% of our daily calories for maximum fat burning. When I did this, fat just seemed to melt off, even when I wasn't exercising.
I notice that in the THM book, we are warned not to go overboard with fats due to their high calorie density, but I'm wondering if Serene or Pearl or anyone else has experimented with increasing the ratio of fats on S days, (and perhaps lowering the ratio of protein to compensate).
It could be that increasing fats only increases weight loss if one is in Ketosis....

Sarahbeth you are welcome to try that. We don't get too caught up in ratios but if very fatty S meals work for you then go ahead. It will still be important to include Fuel pUlls and E meals now and then though.

Thanks for the reply- I guess I was just wondering about the different mechanisms behind lots of fat vs. lots of protein in weight loss. I'm getting close to my goal weight, so I'll have to experiment with how my body responds to a higher fat ratio now.
I will never go back to all low carb meals, though! I'm on my second E day in a row today, and I'm amazed at how satiated I feel. It was absolutely wonderful to be able to have some sprouted bread and fruit spread with breakfast! And I can tell that I've lost a bit after only five days on plan as well. I'm so grateful for this wonderful way of eating!
