I looked up the carb count for blackberries and raspberries and it is the same.

I made blackberry jelly and syrup...it's rather "seedy," but very tasty, and they are supposedly lower glycemic index than raspberries. I think they'd work just fine.

I picked 100#'s of wild blackberries this year. I made triple berry Slim Jelly with the blackberries (I put them in the blender first and then pushed through a colander to get most of the seeds out), raspberries and blueberries. It was great.
