I've read that pumpkin can be used in S recipes - does that go for any amount? I found on nutritiondata.self.com that 1 c. of pumpkin has 12 g. carbs. If this is accurate, then using a recipe with both fats and a higher pumpkin content (for example, making a pumpkin custard using butter/cream, etc.) would be a crossover, right?

12 g. carbs is probably an S helper. Is it 1 cup per serving of pumpkin? If it's divided into multiple servings, that should be fine.

I thought so. In the recipe I have, a serving of custard would probably contain less than a cup of pumpkin as long as I pay attention to portion size. Thanks so much!

Yes, I get 6 net carbs for 1/2 cup pumpkin. Usually the amounts we call for never go over that per serving and usually stay well under.

i made the S style tom soup with pumpkin instead , i doubled it and ate it for two meals, still S or S helper?

i put two cups pumpkin for whole batch so probably ate 1 cup at a time

You could pair the whole cup of pumpkin with Greek Yogurt for a lighter style pumpkin soup. Or use 1/2 cup pumpkin, the rest chicken stock and add cream. Gluccie could thicken it up if it was too thin. That would be more suitable for S. 1 cup pumpkin may be okay but it is a little more carb heavy than a lot of the S meals we encourage.
