I love these oats on page 228. They are so yummy and filling. But how much is a serving size? I cooked 1cup of oats today with 1tsp coconut oil, 1tsp flax meal, and about 1 1/2 tsp of whey protein. No Greek yogurt or berries.
Is 1 cup too much? I actually didn't eat the whole thing, but I ate most of it.
Side note: I knew I wouldn't be eating again for 5 hours so I wasn't too worried about a big breakfast, but I was so happy that I easily made it the 5 hours and was in perfect control for the church pot luck today. I wasn't starved and I stuck to my pre-planned S lunch.

I thought oats was up to 1 and 1/4 cup for a serving. Sounds fine!

Thanks Ladies! This is my new fave breakfast although it means I have to drink almond milk in my coffee instead of cream . Oh well, guess you can't have everything.

Be careful, though, because oatmeal swells as it cooks...it almost doubles in size. So, 1/2 cup dry oatmeal is equal to about 1 cup cooked.

and oats have some natural fat. i think 1 tsp coconut oil is ok, but my golden flax had 7 grams of fat per serving which would probably make it not an E but crossover. I am not 100 percent sure about this though.

Yes, I think I will eat 1 1/4 cups cooked oats. It is so filling and I feel so energetic for the whole morning. Also, it weight loss begins to stall, I can cut back here a bit.
Thanks for the replies.

The book mentions sprinkling some flax on the oatmeal (I think!) so I don't think it takes it out of E. I need to reread that recipe now to be sure.

I'm still nursing at night so I wake up really hungry. I have been eating WAY more than 1 1/4 cups of oatmeal. I haven't measured it, but probably more like 2 cups. I seem to need to eat less with S meals, but I am trying to cut back on fat because of gallbladder issues. I want to eat oatmeal for breakfast, but I am afraid I am eating way to much of it just to fill up.

It is an E meal. It has 1 tsp flax meal, 1 tsp coconut oil, and an optional 1 tsp protein powder which I always add. I also add cinnamon, vanilla and a bit if stevia. I find it fills me for hours, way longer than an S breakfast.
Funny how we are all different, right?

What brand of protein powder do ya'll use? That's something I don't have. I have been having an egg white scramble or Greek yogurt with some berries with my oatmeal to give me the extra protein.

I want to eat oatmeal for breakfast, but I am afraid I am eating way to much of it just to fill up. Having just 1 or 1 1/4 cups of oatmeal doesn't really fill me up either. I usually add something on the side. Maybe some Greek yogurt, maybe a FP whey smoothie, or even some pudding or hot custard. These things can help fill you up while keeping your blood sugar levels in a safe place.
