Hi! I read your book pretty much cover to cover while breastfeeding my little guy this past week... amazing how much time you spend breastfeeding an infant! Anyway. I've been trying to implement the Gut And Psychology Syndrome (GAPS) protocols for our family. Have you researched GAPS at all?
I think I can make the stevia work in more of a whole form but technically the only GAPS legal sweetener is raw honey.
I'm wondering about the Glucomannan - is the fiber hard on your gut?
Juicing - the reason you juice on GAPS is because the fiber in the vegetables is hard on your digestive system - juicing allows you to get the nutrients from raw veggies without dealing with the fiber. When I'm on top of things my morning routine is oil pulling upon awakening followed by a glass of water with vitamin C dissolved in it. Then I get the juicer going as most of your body's natural detoxification occurs between 4 and 10 am and I want to take advantage of it. I try not to eat before 8 or so to give my digestive system time to wake up. So it's about two or three hours between the juice and my "S type" breakfasts of eggs and coconut oil with some cooked veggies and a little bit of raw goat kefir. I feel fantastic when I start my day out like this - more energy, less "forbidden cravings", and way less of a desire to snack before lunch. Since I've cut the juice from my routine I feel like I'm eating all day long to stay satisfied.
Any thoughts? I really want to make this work as my mom desperately needs to get on a diet she can sustain long term but I don't want to give up the healing principles of GAPS - I've seen some healing results even though we have only been on it a few months and not super strict at that.
Any advice/soundboarding would be helpful - thanks!
Blessings!
Gwen
