So, when I read about "ectomorphs" in the book -I had to look it up. It's a new term to me, but I'm definitely one to a tee! I'm nursing a one-year-old right now and just eat constantly. I've ALWAYS eaten constantly, ever since I was a kid and haven't gained a pound really since I was about 16 (now in my 30s). My husband is pretty much the same way and my kids look like skinny rails, so I'm wondering if it's genetic?? Is there anything we need to be careful of because of being skinny? I've never really thought about body type before, so I'm interested in learning. No point in being skinny but full of disease! I know one thing I should work on is exercising. I just never exercise since I don't have weight to lose and I'm busy enough chasing kids all day -but I'm thinking it would help with energy. I feel pretty tired most days. I love all the concepts and great teaching in this book, I'm just still not clear on how S & E applies with me...... Do I need to switch off between those at all? Or does this mean all crossovers for me? Or S helpers? Or....? Anyone else in the same boat? Or know more about this than I do? Thanks so much!

I'm not an expert, but I would think as many crossovers as you want...you have a lot more flexibility than someone who is trying to lose weight, but you still want to keep your blood sugar stable. My metabolism has slowed as I have gotten older, but when I was in my 20s, I was the same way...when I was breastfeeding, my husband called me "skeletal". Lol. The problem was that even thought I ate a lot of healthy food, I also ate unlimited amounts of Dairy Queen Blizzards, oreos, cookies and bread. Lots and lots of bread. It was fun :0) but I know that it wasn't good for me. And the baby that I had during that time has more food sensitivities and dental issues than my other kids, which I believe was partly because of my diet while pregnant and nursing him.

I think fairly consistent crossovers would be a good idea, but I would enjoy some S and E meals for variety I also agree that skinny doesn't necessarily mean healthy.

You can do however many crossovers as you desire to gain/maintain. As long as you're keeping your carb count within the healthy limits outlined in the book (45g max), they are perfectly healthy. So enjoy them!

Thanks, gals! This is pretty much what I was thinking. In recent months I've discovered I have a gluten sensitivity, so I was already starting to cut back a lot of my old starches (bread!) but THM helped me realize that even brown rice can be overdone.
Thanks for the replies!!
