I am currently 36 weeks pregnant with #3. As baby will be due just before Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas, looking ahead and trying to plan a good diet to maintain during this usually fattening season. Can you follow this diet while breastfeeding? Still trying to find discounted book, but wondering if it is worth it, since I will be breastfeeding for at least 2 years (Lord Willing). Can you use it while pregnant if I was to get pregnant again before at maintenance mode? Thank you!

Yes, this plan is fantastic for pregnancy and nursing!

I'm scoping out the plan before I dive in and am currently nursing a 2 month old. Do I need to tweak the plan to make it healthy for me AND baby? Or is it ok to follow as is?

I'm a new member here too and am wondering if the stevia/truvia is safe during pregnancy. I have been avoiding it because I have been too sick with nausea to do any research on if it's safe during pregnancy.

Kirstina, try to stick with mostly the basic S and E plan (maybe some FP snacks as long as you're being properly saturated with calories and richly nourished). You can add some S Helpers as well, or even some crossovers if you're losing weight too quickly.

Kirstina, I belong to the Facebook page for nursing and expectant mamas. It seems to be a common thing to see a supply loss when not eating enough calories or not enough Crossovers while bf-ing and doing THM. Matter of fact there are some mamas who have to do almost all Crossovers and S Helpers to keep their supply way up. I would strongly suggest making your focus on trying to eat as much as possible (meaning overall calories, Crossovers, and S Helpers), while still maintaining or losing ever so slowly- versus sticking to strictly S, E and FP. I did strictly S, E, and FP this last spring (while breastfeeding) in addition to exercising to focus on weight loss, and really believe my supply suffered because of it. Being pregnant and also nursing really are separate seasons from anyone else, and I don't believe it is stressed enough to put yourself in a different category because of it I'm not saying you shouldn't lose while BFing, just that we need to be careful to get in all the proper nourishment and calories!

Wanted to add as well that there are some BFing mamas who can do S, E, and occasionally some FP and S Helpers and they're supply is just fine. Above I was just trying to clarify that strictly S, E, and FP is not the only way to do THM for all women, especially those in the special preg/nursing category

Jessica, just wondering what Facebook page you are referring to. I am expecting #4 and still nursing #3 - would enjoy being in touch with other pregnant/nursing mommies. Did THM last fall through spring 2013, lost weight, but since being pregnant for the past few months I've lost all energy/motivation to eat right/exercise! Thanks Jessica :-)
