I know you ladies don't have all the answers to all women's problems, but this one has plagued me for years. I have had problems digesting fruits, fats, sugars, milk products and some grain products since I was 12. I have been tested for so many things and everything has come back negative. I have tried several cleanses, new diets that are supposed to heal leaky gut, yeast overgrowth etc. Each and every time I try a new diet or cleanse I come out on the other end worse off then when I started. I was recently diagnosed with Adnemyosis and Endometriosis, plus Uterine Fibroids. I was talked into the Depo Provera shot as a trial to see if a partial hysterectomy was a good choice for me. The Depo shot was a complete nightmare, I had night sweats, worse digestive issues, bad mood swings, constant bleeding, no limbido and the list goes on. The shot is finally wearing off and leaving my body, which is a huge praise. But has left me with more questions then answers I exercise 6 days a week – 3 days heavy weight training, 3 days 30 minutes of Tabata drills. I continue to gain weight – over the last 2 years I have put on 8 pounds and my abdomen continues to protrude. You can see the muscles but I look like I am 2 months pregnant or super bloated. I have been following your “lifestyle” change for 2 weeks now and I have been able to tolerate things I have not been able to eat for years. BUT this last week I started to bloat so bad it was painful. I know my system is out of whack due to the Depo shot, so my question is WHERE DO I START?

Amberr, there could be many factors in play here. The Depo shot could be a factor, and it could be also some foods/food combinations upsetting your digestive system. Are there any new foods you've been eating that could possible have started to hurt your stomach? How is your vegetable intake? Fiber intake? Of course, it's hard to tell exactly what's going on. For some people, eating too much fiber is very hard on them. Other people need more. It could take some work, but chances are that there are certain types of foods that will be easier on your system than others, and you should try to stick to those for a while. Trying to add in digestion healing foods may also be a very good idea. Things like bone broth, coconut, cultured foods like real sauerkraut, etc. Try to go easy on the carbs (all of them - fruit, grains, etc.) for a while still. I don't think you need to cut them completely out, but really try not to overdo them with your sensitivities. Healing the gut takes a long time usually. I used to have many gut problems and digestive issues as well. It took time to heal them. There may be some good tips and things that you could pull from your previous diets for gut healing that you would benefit from adding into the THM lifestyle. In the mean time, I've found peppermint to be very helpful to sooth my stomach when it bloats and hurts (usually peppermint tea, or some pure peppermint oil). And sometimes digestive enzymes worked very well for me too - you could look into those if you want. There's a possibility that over exercising might contribute to the problem. You exercise very intensely - it might be an overload for you right now. Muscles hold onto water while they repair themselves, which could possibly contribute to the bloating. I hope some of these ideas help you.

Amberr, I get painful bloating and other digestive issues when I eat artificial sweeteners. I haven't found one yet that I can tolerate. I also cut out gluten and although I am still bloated, I do feel better overall. Just a thought

I am not familiar with the digestive issues that you are facing but I can say that I was having pretty significant digestive issues myself and since I've begun THM, I've felt a lot healthier but I've had moments where I had some discomfort. I am wondering if the amount of fiber could just be setting your body off a bit more and you are adjusting? I would talk to a doctor if the bloating doesn't improve in a few days. Sending prayers for healing!!
