Hello all, I am new to THM, well haven't really started the plan yet- just baby-stepping my way right now. I would like to do this for my husband as he has weight issues and may be pre-diabetic. He is very addicted to things like potato chips and soda and sugar. He is not very enthusiastic about being on plan but I think he would be willing if I could find something that he liked to replace potato chips and soda. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! I have tried GGMS and while he said the taste was pretty good he didn't like the smell of the apple cider vinegar. I tried a couple of the snack recipes like the Crispy Addictions, and he didn't care for them. Any suggestions? I really want to make a success of this plan as I believe it will fix his health and weight issues. I have tried some of the meals and my husband was fine with them. So I feel that if I can get the snack/drink thing down, we'll be able to move forward. Thanks in advance for any help!

I wonder if he would like kale chips? You can make them, but I have found them at Costco, too. Has he tried any of the Zevia sodas? They are sweetened with stevia. Sometimes there is an adjustment phase, but finding things he likes may be really helpful to him!

I had thought of the zevia sodas-he has not tried them and it may be something he likes. A tight budget is the reason I was hoping to find something that I could make that he likes. However if all else fails, we might end up doing that as his health is more important than money. Thanks so much for the suggestions!

There's a lot of crunchy snacks in the cookbook and tons of drinks. Maybe he'd like something from there:)

What about cheese crisps? You can make them by baking the ultra thin cheese slices quartered. I think Costco has bags of parmesan crisps too.
I like to grate cheddar into a hot non-stick pan and let it crisp up. (about 2 oz.) Once it releases the oil, sop that up with a paper towel until its dry (if cheese sticks to your paper towel, you haven't waited long enough), and then continue cooking until its as brown as you want. Remove to a paper plate to cool and crisp. I think it's better than cheezits! You can form it into bowls or taco shapes too if you wish. I like to break off pieces and eat with a crisp apple. A crossover, true. But a good one!

Thanks for all the suggestions- the cheese crisps could very well work as hubby is fond of cheezits! Haven't tried kale chips yet as we live in a very small town ( high prices, you know) and I'm waiting for my bi-monthly trip to the big city for pre-natal visit/shopping. Only 4 weeks to go til #4 is due!

Thank you,rebekarl-we are excited! Though I will certainly have my hands full as our oldest just turned 4 and I have her in kindergarten-and we just bought a piece of land that needs to be cleared and built on, AND I am trying to get serious with THM! Babies are such a special gift from God though and I am thankful. Is it common for people to have problems with glucomannan? It seemed to bother my husband when he had it in a smoothie a few days ago.Should he stay off of it completely or wait a few days and try again? Any advice is sure appreciated!

Yes, babies are so special! You know, some do have a bit of adjustment to the glucommannan. I would probably wait, and try less next time, to see if it is something your body will adjust to...

I made the crunch puffs last night and thought of this thread. So yummy! You can just keep popping crunchy bite after crunchy bite in your mouth. Totally hit the spot. I made macho nacho flavour.

I have been wanting to make those but I don't know where to get the nacho cheese seasoning from! What do you use for that? I finally made the kale chips and I really liked them but my husband hasn't tried them yet. I'll keep hoping!

Not overly purist here, so I just bought Kernel's cheese popcorn flavouring. It's MSG free.
