I found a recipe for homemade Truvia on the internet and I tweeked it to our liking. I put 1 1/2 cups erythritol in the old Truvia container and add 2 teaspoons Nustevia and shake. (original recipe I found uses 1 cup eryth. and 1/2 t nustevia). I like this combo better as I can almost use half what the recipe calls for. I do have a sweet tooth, too. I dont think my 1# of Nustevia is going to last a year the way the kids and I are going through it.

I was thinking the same thing about the Nu Stevia. My kiddos love it! Thanks for the new recipe. I'll try it and see what my girls think compared to the original recipe.

I made this today and it's an excellent sweetener. I've never bought Truvia; it's just waaay too expensive. Azure Standard carries a product called "Stevita Spoonable" that we've used for quite a while which is just erythritol and stevia. I just used the same container to store the new mixture in. I think the combination of 1 1/2 cups erythritol and 2 tsp. stevia is right; it tastes the same but less of the stevia aftertaste. I love finding cheap ways of doing things!

Glad you like the ratios too. It works great for me. I found a powdered erythritol that I want to get so I can mix up some "truvia" that is already ground up for the desserts. I dont always feel like grinding it up everytime I want to make those recipes. It costs just a little bit more, but will be much more convienent.

Please just everyone know that truvia and the homemade version are poisonous to pets. My dog likes to snatch, so I don't use it.

Has anyone tried this with the new formulation of NuNaturals? I can't seem to get anything sweet enough with it, and if I put too much, it's so bitter. I'm hesistant to "waste" my erythritol if it doesn't work well.
